An AAAmazing Competition

As I mentioned at the bottom of yesterday's post, today I am very pleased to announce the launch of FYI BLOG's very first competition! Yep that's right, you guys will have the chance to win some rather nice goodies from the latest instalment of Topman's exclusive AAA collection, inspired by Rock 'n' Roll style. Exciting isn't it?

I'm sure you all want to know what you can win right? Well, the folks over at Topman have been kind enough to send me a gorgeous T-shirt and scarf straight from the rails of the AAA collection, so that you guys can be one of the first to get your hands on some of the latest (not to mention the hottest) pieces Topman has to offer.

The top has a really great asymmetric cut, which I absolutely love, and it also features some transparent detailing which gives it an overall feeling of uniqueness. Meanwhile, the scarf features a really cool safety pin print which fits in perfectly with the Rock 'n' Roll look. Not only that, but as an optional extra you'll also get your own feature on FYI BLOG showing how you've incorporated your prizes into an outfit!

So, how can you win these lovely goodies? Well, all you have to do is firstly follow me on twitter and then send me a direct message telling me why you want to win and where you would wear your new goodies. The best and most original entry wins. It really is that simple!

Entries must be submitted by 12 Midnight on Tuesday 3rd August so you've got just under and week to get your creative juices following and tweet me your direct messages! The winner will then be contacted via Twitter and your goodies sent shortly after!

Bonne Chance!

An AAA+ Evening at Topman Fashion Friday

Do you often find yourself with nothing to do on a Friday night but sit and reorganise your wardrobe into colour sections, cross referenced by garment type and occasion? No, me neither. However, if you are free this Friday, I suggest you hop on down to the Topman Oxford Street flagship store for an evening of fashion, style and frivolity at Topman's latest Fashion Friday gathering.

This month, visitors to the store will be able to indulge in a spot of shopping whilst listening to DJ sets from previous Topman CTRL act Silver Columns and sipping complimentary Kopparberg Cider and Vitamin Water. What's more is that the Topman stylists will, as always, be offering their invaluable advice to make sure your looking your absolute sartorial best this season and next!

I bet you thought it stopped there didn't you? Well think again as, not only will you be able to indulge in the hottest clothes Topman has to offer, but you'll also be able to update your hairstyle with cuts and trims courtesy of Sharps.

Now, as always, I've left the very best until last. Cast your mind back to a short while ago when I blogged about the release of Topman's brand new AAA collection, inspired by the leather studded and timeless aesthetic of Rock 'n' Roll. Well, the AAA collection is back for its second instalment and this Friday will be your chance to grab an exclusive preview of the new collection in all its glory (not to mention an exclusive AAA gift with every purchase!).

Unfortunately, I won't be making it in person this time around (no I am NOT busy organising my wardrobe). However, if you happen to be look for the most fashionable place to be this coming Friday, I'd advise you check it out Topman Oxford Circus from 6PM.

Fir Milenge

P.S I'm also very excited to announce that FYI BLOG will be running a very special competition to celebrate the release of the new AAA instalment, with the chance to win some exclusive goodies, so be sure to check back tomorrow for more details on how to win!

FYI Loves...Alex Loves

Today's post just happens to be a very special one for many reasons, the first of which is that this post kick starts a brand new section of FYI BLOG - FYI Loves. Every now and then I'll be writing posts on some of the things that catch my eye and that I absolutely and whole heatedly LOVE. I won't attempt to pretend this is a concept I thought up all by myself as it's an idea I've seen on quite a few blogs and I felt it was a great way of communicating and sharing little snippets of my life, loves and desires with all of you who read FYI.

So, without further ado the first FYI Loves is dedicated to a blog which was the main source of inspiration for this new section, Alexloves.com. Alex Loves is a really great, down to earth and personal blog, written by Alex Vanthournout, all about the things she loves and mischief she gets up to.

From her constant raving about her love of Erdem to her posts on essentials for every occasion, Alex's posts are always personal, fun and informative (so basically everything I look for in a blog!).

Furthermore, this post actually comes on a very special day as today just happens to be Alex's birthday (nothing to do with the timing of this post, honest...). So, from blogger to blogger, FYI BLOG would like to wish Alex Loves a VERY happy birthday and I hope you have a wonderful day!

However, I do completely and utterly hate (ok, ENVY) you for receiving a brand new Chanel bag, AKA the best birthday present EVER!

You can find Alex's blog at Alexloves.com and you can also follow her on twitter HERE.

Bigger Is Not Always Better

Bright and early this morning, whilst getting my daily dose of online store browsing, I stumbled across a website I hadn't heard of before and I must say that it didn't take long for me to fall in love with it.

Daniel Jenkins is an independent online menswear boutique which offers some of the very best in new and upcoming British menswear designer talent. From Carolyn Massey to Lou Dalton and Unconditional (all of whom are showing at LFW this coming September) Daniel Jenkins really does offer some of my absolute favourite menswear designer brands.

Trench Coat by Carolyn Massey - £206.50

Originally a store stocking men's and womenswear, when Daniel made the move to becoming an online retailer he decided to focus solely on what he does best - menswear. However, having said that, there is still a small selection of womenswear stock left from the likes of Peter Jensen, Unconditional and YMC so there are still some things left for the girls.

Tweed Flannel Single Breasted Jacket by Lou Dalton - £120.75

I think what attracts me most to this site is it's personality. It's not a big online power house like ASOS or My Wardrobe but a more personalised and exclusive shopping experience. All the items are photographed very simplistically in often what appears to be Daniel's own garden or house. There are multiple shots of each item, covering all the details of the garment which ensure you know exactly how the product looks, inside and out. Furthermore, all the items have personally written descriptions often detailing the inspiration behind the piece, the level of quality or Daniel's personal opinion.

Daniel's philosophy:

Daniel Jenkins Ltd - For several years I have concerned myself solely with the work of British menswear designers. Their deft handling of fabric produces durability, comfort and an unique style. The clothes are wearable, fit for purpose and of merchantable quality. They have a bit about them. Fashion? I’m not sure what that means. Style? Yes, I believe so. The clothes I offer are truly limited edition. I only work with designers who take pains—people open to argument --- who want to hold on to their independence because, like me, they are proud of it. Enough! After all, clothes are just clothes. Still there’s no harm in feeling good every time you put them on.

However, don't be fooled into thinking that this quaint, more personalised format means you'll end up paying through the nose. I would personally describe the site as EXTREMELY good value for money. The products are very well priced, considering their quality and exclusivity, and whats more is that all orders receive FREE UK and International shipping! Now that's something you certainly don't get at many larger online retailers! Daniel also has a sale on at the moment so be sure to check that out for some really fantastic bargains.

In a time in where we are swamped with large scale, globalised online retailers, one can often feel remote and disconnected from the personal side of shopping; feeling as though you are merely a number in an online system, rather than a loyal and valued customer. Daniel Jenkins is a beacon of independence, offering personalised and down to earth service that, once more, allows you to feel connected with the retailer - an experience which, online, is very rare to find.

Aloha

Although there are still quite a few TBC it seems that a lot of designers are choosing not to show within the BFC Show Space this season, which means a lot of running around for me!

I'm very pleased to see that members of the industry will again have the opportunity to pay their respects to Alexander McQueen with an official on schedule memorial.

I'm also very happy that one of my favourite brands, Unconditional, will be returning to London this season to show a presentation on Monday.

Still a bit disappointed to see that Caroyln Massey will not be doing a catwalk show this season however I am somewhat consoled by the fact Kokon to Zai will this season be showing on the catwalk during Menswear day.

So, a very exciting schedule and one that I can't wait to start working my way through in September!

Diana Vickers Has A Passion For Fashion

Now I must admit that, before meeting her at T4OTB last Sunday, I hadn't taken a great deal of interest in Miss. Vickers. She seemed friendly enough before but I'd never actually watched her series of X Factor, listened to her singles or even taken notice of her outfits. However, after having a lovely little pow wow in the press tent, I realised Diana is actually a very lovely person and who one, like myself, has a strong passion for upcoming fashion.

Diana poses for the paparazzi while I get a shot of her gorgeous Sass and Bide dress.

Diana was recently a guest at the London College of Fashion BA Graduate show and she is clearly a supporter of new talent within the industry. I asked her what she thought of the show and this is what she had to say:

"Honnestly, I had so much fun there! I love to go to things like that and just see what the young generation are coming up with and see the new trends and everything like that, it's just a great experience. I've even been to events wearing some of their clothes, it's great."

In a time when a lot of celebrities often stick to big name brands and bigger fashion house which are more recognised by their fans, it's great to see a new music artists supporting fresh upcoming talent from the fashion industry. Diana is also hoping to be joining the likes of myself and other fashionistas/fashionistos at London Fashion Week in September.

"I hope I'll be there, I really hope so! I'm actually quite looking forward to seeing Louise Grey, I like her a lot"

Whether she joins us at LFW or not, one thing is for sure, her support of the industries upcoming design talent earns her big Brownie points from me!

I'll leave you with Diana's catchy new single 'The Boy Who Murdered Love'.

I'll Be Your Papa, Paparazzi...

As most of you are aware from my twitter, yesterday I donned my shorts (well, rolled up chinos), grabbed my RayBans and headed over to T4 on the Beach at Weston-Super-Mare....and what a eventful day it was!

I'll be posting my style coverage a little bit later on but I thought I'd let you in on a little something that happened to me yesterday. There I was, strolling around the backstage area with my camera, trying to avoid watching any second of Jedward performing on stage (although regrettably I could still hear them) and suddenly, as if from nowhere, Edward from Jedward appeared in a wheelchair  being carted down off the stage, surrounded by medics and heading towards an ambulance!

So, doing what many a person would, I grabbed my camera and took a few shots of all the chaos going on. Well, apparently, people pay big dollars for celeb photos now days (shock horror I know!) and so within the hour I'd emailed my photos to Mr.Paparazzi.com and they were being sold around the country.

Thus far you can find them on Mr. Paparazzi.com, The Daily Mail Website, Aol Celebrity News and HolyMoly.com! I've become a one-time Pap! (or as a fellow press member jokingly described it: 'You've become an official paparazzi! It's people like you that killed Diana!).

Nevertheless, it was all very exciting and I look forward to seeing if they pop up anywhere else! 'Jedward Breaks Leg' today, 'Lohan Knickerless' tomorrow?

New Virtual Pleasure Site...THECORNER.COM

Now before some of you think I've divulged into some 'less tasteful' topics, worry not as the content of this post concerns a personal pleasure of mine.....Shopping.

Today, whilst passing the time with some casual online browsing, I stumbled across a website I haven't used before and, quite frankly, I think it's fantastic.

THECORNER.COM is an online luxury retail heaven stocking designers from 3.1 Phillip Limm through to Marc Jacobs and down to Victor and Rolf. They really do have a fantastic range of designers, brands and products.

However, the fun doesn't stop there! Right now they're having a massive 50% off sale and let me tell you, it is amazing. I literally had to have someone take my credit card from my extremely tightly clenched fist.

Here are some of my pick from the sale:

3.1 Phillip Lim Shorts £250 £125

Kris Van Assche Top £125 £64

Liberty of London Top £90 £45

MARSèLL Shoes £430 £298

Damir Doma Sandals £610 £305

Just a small selection of some of the great pieces featured in the sale. Be sure to check it out sharpish before everything's gone!

Morning Rituals...

I had intended to blog about this around a month ago but to be honest I completely forgot about it! However, considering it's now part of my daily morning shower ritual, (you'll get what I'm doing with the word play soon) I thought it was about time I gave it the mention it deserves!
So without further ado, this post is dedicated to the GORGEOUS Rituals Shower Gel (get what I did there with the title?).

I was given this shower gel in a goody bag I received at a VIP Sex and the City 2 screening I attended about a month ago and I've been using it ever since! It's called sunrise (my friend received a green one with a fresher scent) and it's infused with sweet orange and cedar. Let me tell you, it smells DIVINE! It's a really warm, invigorating scent that's perfect for the morning.

Now, the key point of this product is something I haven't seen from any other shower gel. Initially it comes out as a gel however, it soon lathers (kind of like shaving cream) into a really luxurious and silky foam.

Before

After

I often find that a lot of shower gels on the market stay in a slimy gel which isn't very luxurious. However, this one definitely hits the mark.

AND what's more, it leaves you a little bit glittery. Not too much but just enough to give you a hint of shimmer.

I'm really looking forward to trying more of the range soon! Check out the whole range HERE.

Weekend Day Trip....

This weekend FYI Blog will be partying it up at T4 on the Beach on behalf of online fashion and style guide Fashionbeans.com

I'll be hanging around backstage and in the press area, catching up with all the acts as well as any celebrities enjoying the festivities. I'll also be keeping an eye out for the most fashion fantastic festival goers to appear here on FYI and Fashion Beans, so if you spot me make sure you say hello and you might be in with a chance of appearing on the site!

There will also be scouts from Elite Model Management looking out for new faces to add to there books, so it's definitely a day to make sure you're looking your best! Personally, I have NO IDEA what I'm wearing yet but I'm sure something will pop out after I stare into my closet for a while.....

You can find a list of all the acts playing at T4OTB HERE. See you there!.....
